Gallery 2121 will be open for receptions for an exhibit entitled Hearth & Home on Saturday, December 19, 11am - 6pm and Monday December 21, 5pm-8pm to celebrate a limited time art exhibit and sale of picturesque paintings and platinum palladium photography at:

Six artists and one photographer reflect a broad range of representational styles and approaches that capture the beauty and diversity of our surroundings. Paintings of traditional and urban landscape, marine art, contemporary figures, animal portraits and mixed media are all incorporated into an exhibit that aims to showcase this season of hearth and home.
Artists include: Pam Flanders, Mark Larsen, Celeste Bergin, Carrie Holst, Katherine van Schoonhoven, and Carolyn Rondthaler along with photographer David Burbach.

Installation day at Bishop Creek

I have twenty-seven platinum palladium prints at Bishop Creek for a solo exhibit. I am a native Oregonian and I travel to some very remote areas in search of unique imagery. My reverence for the Pacific Northwest is apparent in this work. The Bishop Creek Tasting room is an ideal place to display photography. It will be my pleasure to be at the reception on First Friday, November 6...Come celebrate with me..have a glass of wine and take in the scenery.

DESCRIPTION:
David Burbach works exclusively in platinum/palladium photography. Burbach creates images that are remarkably subtle and detailed with a tonal range that is unsurpassed. Platinum/palladium was a popular method of making photographic prints at the turn of the 20th century. Platinum/palladium prints have a sensuous texture that is dramatically different from the glossy surface of gelatin silver prints. Today very few photographers chose an old process and those who do are considered “alternative” photographers. All of Burbach’s prints are made start-to-finish by hand in his darkroom.

The relationship between yin and yang is often described in terms of sunlight playing over a mountain and in the valley. As the sun moves across the sky, yin and yang gradually trade places with each other, revealing what was obscured and obscuring what was revealed. Dichotomy is the essence of everything in this world. The existence of both delight and sadness will sometimes cause conflicts in our lives. Yet, yin and yang ironically make one's life well balanced. Based on the concept of balancing dichotomy, this exhibition, Yin Yang portrays human life consisting of the harmony that is both happiness and longing.

Celebrate Oregon: 150 years of Architecture, a juried photography exhibit opened Sunday, Feb. 1 with a First Thursday Reception on Feb 5.
It is hard to beat having your reception in Portland's most venerable crown "jewel"... the Pittock Mansion! And if that wasn't enough I was also honored to have won First Place for Monastery and Honorable Mention for Old Diamond Fruit Packing Plant.

As an Oregon 150 partner, the Pittock Mansion Society is proud to celebrate Oregon’s history. The show is open until June 30 (with a general admission fee). Show Jurors: Michael Henley of Contemporary Images, Laura Valenti of Newspace Center for Photography and Lucy McLean of Pittock Mansion.
