About Me

My photo
David Burbach Photography
Portland, OR, United States
I am a fine arts photographer who has, over the last 40+ years, used almost every film format available. Four years ago I converted to digital but apply the same thinking in the photographic process. My images are more varied and subject matter is more eclectic - different is not the same. I use this site to experiment. To see my images in a different venue. I prefer prints - they are more sensuous, full, tactile.....but that's my preference. You can contact me directly at david(at)davidburbach(dot)com.

Quotes

"I see the thing. I feel the thing. I make the thing."---Andre Kertesz

"Art is an interpreter of the inexpressible, and therefore is seems a folly to try to convey its meaning afresh by means of words."--- Goethe

"Good composition is only the strongest way of seeing the subject."---Edward Weston

"The intuitive mind is a sacred gift and the rational mind is a faithful servant. We have created a society that honors the servant and has forgotten the gift."---Albert Einstein

"Anything that excites me, for any reason, I will photograph: not searching for unusual subject matter, but making the commonplace unusual, nor indulge in in extraordinary technique to attract attention."---Edward Weston

David likes to photograph the common, that which surrounds daily life, things taken for granted because they are seen everyday. These images are from locations near his home, often within walking distance, but no more than a short car trip. He knows them well, having passed them frequently.

Often the subject matter depends on chance, but the results are always composed and printed with purpose.
